The Maquilla 1 showing is located on western side of Schoen Creek at an elevation of 800 metres, approximately 25 kilometres southeast of the community of Woss.

The area is underlain by andesites of the Karmutsen Formation, which have been intruded by Jurassic diorite. The andesite and diorite locally contain up to 10 per cent pyrite but more typically disseminated pyrite, 1 per cent, with or without disseminated quartz and quartz stringers.

Locally, epidote-quartz veined andesite host disseminated, 1 to 10 per cent, pyrite and sphalerite mineralization.

In 1993, a rock sample (no. 209354) yielded 1.01 grams per tonne gold, 46.1 grams per tonne silver, 0.94 per cent copper and 7.99 per cent zinc (Assessment Report 23546).

Work History

In 1993, Orvana Minerals staked the Maquilla 1-2 claims on the basis of moss mat geochemical results and prospecting during the moss mat survey. Further rock and soil sampling, prospecting and geological mapping was completed the same year.

During 2000 through 2014, M. Schau, later with Interwest Enterprises Ltd., conducted numerous programs of geochemical (soil, silt and rock) and biogeochemical sampling, ground magnetic and electromagnetic surveys, trenching, geological mapping and prospecting on the area as the Flan-Consolidated property.
